Rebecca Book Cover:
A Project redo

I have been working on compiling different projects I have done throughout my classes. While sifting through projects I came across one that has potential to be a portfolio piece but I attempted a style that I am not used to. I had dumped too much time into the project so I ended up submitting it as it was, as I ran out of time and energy. I knew it wasn’t a work I would be proud of in the long term but there wasn’t anything to do about that at the time. I am very proud of the concept and ideas behind the piece so I was already planning on recreating it, this project was a great opportunity to do so. My priorities were to illustrate the people in a style that I am comfortable in. I was originally trying to branch out my abilities but I don’t think that is necessary anymore, not to this extent at least. My secondary goal was to adjust the text to look more cohesive with the illustrations. The background also needed adjustments to better fit the new look. I was very happy to be able to use the same concept for the cover but to better execute it.
The Original Project

Original brief before working on it:
My priorities will be focused on making the people look like they were created well. I, clearly, don’t draw people much but when I do it is in a totally different style. I was trying to branch out but it did not work out. My secondary goal will be to make the text look more connected to the background. I will also be reworking the background to better fit the new style but keeping the idea and execution of it similar. I will not have to change the overall layout or concept at all, I will just be re-executing it. I am also readjusting some of the requirements for the project so that it better fits my portfolio. I am using different measurements than specified in the assignment so that I can fit it onto my copy of the book. I will also be editing the barcode and logo that were required for the assignment.
